Front Desk Receptionist
Volunteer Front Desk Receptionists represents Henderson House to the public and clients who visit the Advocacy Center and who call our office phone line.
Responsibilities:
- Following agency policies
- Assuring immediate and continued safety and confidentiality of shelter clients
- Answering the Henderson House office phone line, take messages, and transfer calls as necessary
- Greeting and responding to walk-in clients and guests in a supportive and trauma-informed way
- Receiving, recording, and creating receipts for donations
- Assisting with general office tasks that can be completed at the front desk
- Keeping Community Resource Room materials maintained and organized
- Sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and general tidying of reception and seating areas as necessary
- Help with special projects as requested
Qualifications:
- Philosophy compatible to Henderson House Mission Statement, especially to include:
- Understanding the experience of domestic and sexual violence survivors
- Understanding of oppression and how it supports interpersonal violence
- Understanding of the impact of trauma on survivors of violence
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of Henderson House clients
- Ability to work well with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work with Henderson House staff as a team member
This position reports to: Henderson House Volunteer Coordinator and Staff
Time commitment: Minimum of 1 hour per month
