Henderson House Welcomes Our New Executive Director

Dear Henderson House Community,

I am pleased to share that I have joined the Henderson House team as the agency’s new Executive Director. Just a few days into the role, I am moved by the deeply caring community we have supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence here in Yamhill County. After 28 years developing, growing, and sustaining survivor programs in Oregon, I am eager to plant roots in Yamhill County, to invest my experience and skills, and to continue building on the incredible legacy of Henderson House.

Previously I served in executive leadership at Portland’s largest and most comprehensive confidential domestic violence emergency shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing program as well as Oregon’s most expansive domestic and sexual violence crisis line and hospital response advocacy program. I am hopeful that these experiences working with survivors across complex systems will be an asset to Henderson House and Yamhill County.

When away from the office, I enjoy spending time outside exploring our beautiful state, connecting with family and friends, snuggling with my “puppy” Pluto, spending time with my “kids” (ages 20 and 24), listening to music both live and through my cherished record collection, swimming, and looking up at the moon and stars on a clear night.

I truly look forward to learning more about you, our community, and how together we can increase safety and resiliency for survivors. In a few weeks I will be hosting a listening session to learn more from you and our larger community about the needs of Yamhill County. Details will be included in an invitation email. I hope to meet you there.

With Gratitude,

Fay Schuler

Executive Director, Henderson House
